Description
The Mauser AK47 Folding Stock 22 LR is a semi-automatic .22 LR rifle styled after the AK-47, with a 16.5 inch barrel and flash hider, a side-folding stock and an optics-ready Picatinny rail. This listing is UPC 689585855221, Mauser model 407.00.25. It holds 24+1 rounds.
Mauser AK47 Folding Stock 22 LR Overview
Mauser rimfire rifles recreate famous military designs in 22 LR, so you get the look and handling of an AK at a fraction of the ammunition cost. Recoil is light, the report is mild, and a full afternoon of shooting costs a few dollars in ammo instead of a small fortune.
Folding Stock
The stock folds to the left side of the receiver, which shortens the rifle for the trunk or a smaller case. With a 16.5 inch barrel it is a standard rifle under federal law, and it handles well for younger or smaller shooters.
Sights and Optics
The adjustable rear sight lets you zero the iron sights for your ammunition, and the Picatinny rail is ready for a red dot or a small scope. A compact red dot suits the AK look and makes fast work of steel plates, spinners and tin cans.
Magazine and Controls
The rifle ships with a 24 round magazine and has an ambidextrous magazine release, so left and right handed shooters can drop a magazine without shifting their grip. Use magazines made for this Mauser rimfire, since centerfire AK magazines will not fit.
Barrel and Accuracy
The 16.5 inch barrel wears an AK style flash hider. Expect good accuracy for plinking and small targets at 25 to 50 yards, especially once you find the ammunition your rifle likes best.
Choosing Ammunition
Most rimfire semi-autos run best on high velocity round nose 22 LR, usually 36 to 40 grain loads. Try a few brands, because reliability and accuracy can change from one load to the next. Bulk packs keep practice cheap, which is the whole point of a rimfire.
Cleaning and Care
Rimfire ammunition burns dirty, so clean the breech face, chamber and extractor every few hundred rounds. A light coat of oil on moving parts is all most owners need. Store the rifle unloaded in a locked safe or case, with magazines and ammunition kept separate.
State Laws
Some states limit magazine capacity or certain features even on rimfire firearms. Check your state and local laws before you order. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
