The ACE-R line builds on Retay’s ACE platform with the same Inertia Plus action, deep bore drilled barrel and removable trigger group. How the 12 Gauge Inertia Shotgun Works
Retay’s Inertia Plus rotating bolt locks up fully and uses recoil energy, not gas, to cycle. A 12 gauge inertia shotgun stays cleaner than a gas gun because no powder residue is bled into the action, so it keeps running through long, wet days in a blind. The trade-off is that inertia guns need a short break-in and may not cycle very light target loads, so start with standard field loads.
The trigger group drops out with a push button for cleaning, and Retay’s Easy Out system lets you clear the magazine tube without cycling shells through the action.
Barrel, Chokes and Optics
Retay drills the barrel from solid steel and adds a factory-lengthened forcing cone that it credits with up to 20 percent more pellets on target. Six chokes are included: cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, full and an extended long-range waterfowl tube rated for steel. The 12 gauge receiver is drilled and tapped, so you can add a red dot for turkey or a rail without gunsmithing.
Walnut Semi-Auto Shotgun Fit
Length of pull is 14.5 inches with a shim kit to adjust drop and cast. An oversized, reversible safety suits left-handed shooters, and the Airy recoil reduction system takes up to 30 percent off felt recoil. Walnut looks great but needs a little more care than synthetic: wipe it down after wet hunts and avoid leaving it in a hot vehicle.
