Wilson Combat 300 HAMR 130gr Hot-Core Overview

Wilson Combat is best known for hand-fitted 1911 pistols and premium AR-15 rifles built in Berryville, Arkansas, and the company loads its own ammunition to the same standard. Every Wilson Combat load is assembled with new, high quality brass, carefully selected primers and powders, and bullets from makers such as Hornady, Sierra and Speer. Loads are tested in real firearms for function, velocity and accuracy, so what you buy is ammunition the company trusts in its own guns.

Bullet Design

Speer designed the HAM’R Hot-Core bullet for the 300 HAM’R. The Hot-Core process pours molten lead into the jacket, which bonds the core and jacket closely and helps the bullet hold together and keep its weight as it expands. The result is reliable penetration on deer-sized game at the velocities this cartridge produces.

Intended Use

Wilson Combat built the 300 HAM’R to give the AR-15 real hunting power using a standard bolt and magazines. With a 130 grain bullet at about 2500 fps, this load carries more energy than a typical 300 Blackout supersonic load, which makes it a strong choice for deer hunters and hog hunters who want a light, handy AR. The 200 round carton keeps you supplied for a full season of practice and hunting.

Performance

With a ballistic coefficient of 0.248, this bullet leaves a 18 inch test barrel at about 2500 fps with 1804 ft-lbs of energy. Actual velocity varies with barrel length, temperature and the individual firearm, so confirm your zero with the exact load you plan to use. Shooting a few groups at your usual distance is the best way to see how it performs in your own rifle.

Firearm Compatibility

Use this ammunition only in firearms chambered for 300 HAM’R. Check the marking on your barrel before loading, and consult the maker of your firearm if you are unsure whether a load is suitable.

Quality You Can Count On

Wilson Combat loads every round with new brass rather than reloaded cases, and checks the ammunition in real firearms. Consistent cases, primers and powder charges are what give reliable feeding, clean ignition and accuracy from box to box.

Choosing the Right Load

Match the bullet to the job. Expanding hunting bullets are built for game, match bullets for paper, and heavy flat points for deep, straight penetration. Think about your typical distance, the size of the target and what lies beyond it, then pick a load and practice with it so you know where it hits.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original boxes, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect each round before loading, and set aside any with dented cases, loose bullets or corrosion.
