Description
The Barnes VOR-TX LR 300 Rem UM 190gr LRX BT pairs the most overbore 30 caliber cartridge in common production with a bullet designed specifically for distance. It leaves the muzzle at roughly 3125 fps carrying about 4121 ft-lbs, behind a 0.540 G1 ballistic coefficient. Velocity, energy and a slippery bullet are the three things that matter past 400 yards, and this load has all three. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX LR 300 Rem UM 190gr LRX BT Overview
The LRX is the long range member of the Barnes copper family and it is not simply a TTSX with a longer nose. The hollow cavity under the polymer tip is deeper and shaped to open at considerably lower impact velocities, because a bullet arriving at 600 yards is travelling far slower than one arriving at 100.
That is the central problem with monolithic bullets at distance. Copper needs speed to peel back into petals, and a standard TTSX eventually drops below the threshold where it opens at all. The LRX pushes that threshold down to roughly 1600 fps, which extends useful range dramatically.
190 Grain LRX Boat Tail Performance
At 190 grains this is heavy for the caliber, and deliberately so. A long, heavy bullet with a boat tail and a secant nose profile is what produces a 0.540 ballistic coefficient, and high BC is what keeps velocity and reduces wind drift at the distances this cartridge exists to cover.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX LR 300 Rem UM 190gr LRX projectile. With a bullet this long in contact with the rifling those grooves matter a great deal, lowering pressure in a case that already runs near the top of its window and cutting copper fouling.
Why Hunters Choose 300 Rem Ultra Magnum Long Range Ammo
The 300 Remington Ultra Magnum has more powder capacity than a 300 Winchester Magnum or a 300 Weatherby, and it uses it. Roughly 250 fps over a 300 Win Mag with the same bullet flattens trajectory and, more importantly, keeps the bullet above its expansion threshold several hundred yards further out.
That is the real argument for this 300 Rem Ultra Magnum long range ammo. The gain is not that you can shoot flatter; a good drop chart handles trajectory in any cartridge. The gain is terminal performance at distance, and that is where the extra case capacity actually earns its keep.
The costs are real and worth stating. Barrel life often runs 1000 to 1500 rounds. Recoil is heavy enough that most shooters want a brake or a substantial rifle, and muzzle blast is severe. Powder consumption per shot is roughly double a 308.

Range Notes For This High BC Copper Hunting Bullet
Chronograph your rifle. Published velocity comes from a test barrel, and barrel length and throat wear both move the number. At the distances this load is built for, a 60 fps error at the muzzle becomes a substantial miss at 600 yards.
A high BC copper hunting bullet is long, so twist rate deserves a check. Most 300 RUM barrels run 1 in 10, which stabilizes a 190 grain LRX without difficulty. Confirm with a group at distance rather than assuming from a 100 yard target.
Zero with this exact load and foul a clean barrel first. The Barnes VOR-TX LR 300 Rem UM 190gr LRX stays above its expansion threshold well past 700 yards from a full length barrel, but know your own numbers before taking a long shot at an animal.
