The projectile is machined from a solid copper billet, so there is no lead core to separate from a jacket and no chance of the bullet coming apart on a heavy shoulder. A polymer tip caps the hollow nose, protects it in the magazine and drives rearward on impact to start expansion immediately.

Once expansion begins, the nose peels back into four sharp copper petals that open to roughly double the original diameter and stay attached to the shank.
