Competition Components for the 20 Gauge
High Over All is Federal’s premium target line, put together from quality components for shooters who want consistent performance round after round. The 20 gauge version gives sub-gauge skeet shooters and sporting clays shooters with lighter guns a load built for serious practice and competition.
The Podium wad is designed to protect the shot column on its way up the barrel and release it cleanly at the muzzle. That helps produce the even, predictable patterns you want when every target counts.
The 8-crimp hull with a brass head is built to be reloaded, which adds value for shooters who load their own target shells. The brass head also helps the shell cycle and extract smoothly in semi-autos, pumps and break-action guns.

Tips for the Clays Field
Use Federal High Over All 20ga HOA20H8 only in shotguns chambered for 2-3/4 inch or longer 20 gauge shells.
Never mix 20 gauge and 12 gauge shells in the same pocket or bag, since a 20 gauge shell can lodge in a 12 gauge barrel.
Pattern your gun with this load so you know how your chokes perform at the distances you shoot most.
Always wear eye and ear protection on the course.
Federal High Over All 20ga HOA20H8 ammo is a quick choice for skeet, trap and sporting clays shooters who run a 20 gauge.
Number 8 shot puts a dense pattern of pellets in the air, which makes it a favorite for skeet, close and mid-range sporting targets and 16-yard trap.
A 7/8 ounce 20 gauge load is light on the shoulder, which makes it a great fit for long practice sessions, younger shooters and anyone with a lightweight gun. Many skeet shooters also use a 20 gauge in sub-gauge events, and Federal High Over All 20ga HOA20H8 shells give them a dedicated competition load.
Buying several boxes of Federal High Over All 20ga HOA20H8 from the same lot keeps recoil and timing consistent from round to round. Store shells in a cool, dry place in their original box.
If you reload, save your empty hulls. Always use published reloading data that matches the hull and wad you are using.
Before a match, shoot a few practice rounds so your timing and lead pictures match the load you will use when it counts. Consistent ammunition lets you focus on your mount, your move and your follow-through.\n\nSub-gauge skeet and small-gauge sporting clays reward smooth gun handling. A light 20 gauge swings quickly and stays easy to control through a full round, and a consistent target load like Federal High Over All 20ga HOA20H8 lets you build confidence in your gun. Keep a log of your scores and the load you used, so you can see how small changes in your setup affect your results over the season.
