Description
The Savage Rascal Target XP 22 LR Left Hand is a bolt-action rimfire rifle with a 16.13-inch heavy carbon steel barrel, a black hardwood stock, a single-shot action, and a user-adjustable trigger, plus a factory-mounted scope. It is built left-handed for southpaw shooters. It weighs about 5.95 lbs.
Savage Rascal Target XP 22 LR Left Hand Overview
Savage has built a reputation for accurate, dependable firearms at fair prices, and the Rascal Target XP continues that tradition with practical features that matter in the field and at the range. It is the kind of gun that earns a permanent place in the safe because it simply works, shot after shot, without fuss or expensive upgrades. The 22 LR is the most popular cartridge in the world for good reason: ammunition is affordable and easy to find, recoil is almost nonexistent, and it is quiet enough for plinking, squirrel hunting, and hours of practice.
Barrel and Action
The 16.13-inch heavy carbon steel barrel has a satin finish and a 1:16″ twist matched to 22 LR bullets. The heavier profile steadies the rifle and resists heat for tight groups from a rest. The muzzle is threaded for a muzzle device or suppressor where local law allows; suppressors are NFA items that require an approved ATF Form 4.
Stock and Fit
The black hardwood stock is built to handle real-world use, and wood is a natural material, so every stock shows its own grain. Length of pull is 11.25″. Overall length is about 30.63″.
Sights and Optics
A scope comes factory-mounted and bore-sighted, so you can confirm your zero at the range and get started with minimal setup.
Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break, and the center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge. A light, predictable trigger makes accurate shooting much easier.
Single-Shot Operation
Because the gun holds one round at a time, every shot is deliberate, which makes it an excellent tool for teaching new shooters careful habits.
In the Field
Rimfire guns often prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of 22 LR to find the one that groups best in your barrel. Pair it with a quality optic and a steady rest for the best results.
Key Features
Highlights from the factory spec sheet: Precision hardwood stock; 16 1/8-inch heavy barrel with threaded muzzle; One-piece Picatinny rail; 4x32mm scope; Bipod and sling swivel stud mount; Reliable, single-shot action; Manual safety; Unload without pulling the trigger.
Ownership and Value
A quality rimfire is one of the most useful guns a family can own. It teaches fundamentals, controls pests, fills the freezer with small game, and provides endless low-cost practice. Savage rimfires are known for accuracy that punches well above their price, and spare magazines, scope mounts, and accessories are easy to find.
Care and Cleaning
A little routine care keeps the Savage Rascal Target XP 22 LR Left Hand running smoothly. After each outing, wipe down exposed metal, clean the bore, keep moving parts lightly lubricated, and store the gun in a dry place.
