Anschutz 1761 Classic LH 22LR Rifle

Description

Anschutz 1761 Classic LH: A Precision Left-Hand Rimfire Rifle

The Anschutz 1761 Classic LH is a left-handed.22 LR bolt-action rifle engineered for shooters who want serious rimfire accuracy without compromise. Anschutz has spent decades refining precision rimfire actions for competitive and recreational shooters, and this model continues that legacy with a heavy barrel, a single-stage light trigger, and a classic walnut stock finished with fine checkering for a secure grip. Whether used for target practice, small game hunting, or building fundamental marksmanship skills, this rifle delivers the consistent performance that dedicated rimfire shooters expect from the Anschutz name.

Chambered in 22 Long Rifle, this bolt-action rifle cycles smoothly thanks to a precisely fitted action and a 20-inch heavy barrel with a 1:16.5-inch twist rate, both of which help produce tighter groups at extended rimfire distances. The detachable magazine holds five rounds for quick reloads between strings of fire, while the blued metal finish resists wear through repeated range sessions. At 37.8 inches overall and 6.4 pounds, the rifle balances naturally without feeling front-heavy, and the left-hand-specific stock keeps the bolt handle and controls positioned exactly where a left-handed shooter needs them for fast, natural cycling.

Key Features and Benefits

The heavy barrel on the Anschutz 1761 Classic LH is a standout feature for anyone serious about rimfire precision. Heavier barrel contours resist heat-induced stringing during extended range sessions, holding zero more consistently than thin sporter barrels. Paired with a single-stage light trigger, the rifle offers a crisp, predictable break that helps shooters call their shots with confidence instead of fighting creep or excess takeup. This combination of barrel mass and trigger quality is why rimfire competitors and serious hobbyists continue to choose Anschutz actions over less refined production rifles.

Left-handed shooters are often an afterthought in the rifle market, but the classic walnut stock on this model is purpose-built for them, not simply mirrored. The bolt handle, cheekpiece, and comb are all oriented for natural left-hand operation, so the shooter’s dominant eye lines up with the sights or optic without awkward head movement. Fine checkering at the grip and forend improves purchase in wet or gloved conditions, while the classic lines keep the rifle looking as good on display as it performs on the range.

This rifle ships without factory sights, reflecting its focus on optics-ready precision shooting rather than traditional iron-sight hunting use. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, letting shooters pair the rifle with a rimfire scope suited to target work, small game, or informal plinking at extended ranges. Because the action relies on a detachable box magazine rather than a hinged floorplate, reloading stays fast and consistent. Anschutz builds this rifle to standards that hold up over thousands of rounds, and the blued finish paired with the walnut stock gives it a timeless, classic look.

Anschutz 1761 Classic LH Specifications

These specifications make the Anschutz 1761 Classic LH a purpose-built rimfire rifle rather than a generic bolt gun with a left-hand label slapped on it. From the heavy 20-inch barrel to the 5-round detachable magazine and single-stage trigger, every listed spec supports accurate, repeatable shooting. At 6.4 pounds and 37.8 inches overall, it remains compact enough for younger or smaller-framed shooters while still offering the heft experienced marksmen prefer for steady, controlled holds.

Who It Is For

The Anschutz 1761 Classic LH is built for left-handed rimfire shooters who want more than a mass-produced.22 with a mirrored stock bolted on as an afterthought. Junior shooters transitioning from youth rifles, competitive smallbore shooters practicing fundamentals, and hunters pursuing small game all benefit from the heavy barrel’s stability and the single-stage trigger’s predictability. Anyone who has struggled to find a genuinely left-hand-friendly option in the Rifles category will appreciate that this model was designed from the ground up for left-hand ergonomics rather than adapted after the fact, making every range session more comfortable and every shot more natural.

For shooters who want to research the engineering behind this rifle further, the Anschutz official site details the company’s long history of building competition-grade rimfire actions in Germany. This particular model brings that same competition heritage into a hunting-and-plinking-friendly package, with a classic stock instead of a stippled target profile and a weight that stays manageable for field carry. Whether it becomes a first serious.22 for a left-handed teenager, a dedicated smallbore trainer, or a walnut-stocked companion for weekend range trips, the rifle rewards proper care with tight groups and reliable cycling.

Why Choose This

Choosing the Anschutz 1761 Classic LH means choosing a rimfire rifle built specifically for how left-handed shooters actually shoulder, aim, and cycle a bolt gun, not a right-hand design with the parts flipped. The heavy barrel, single-stage light trigger, classic walnut stock, and blued finish combine to deliver accuracy and reliability that hold up match after match and season after season. Backed by Anschutz’s long-standing reputation for precision rimfire engineering, this rifle is a smart investment for shooters who want a dedicated left-hand.22 they can trust for competition, training, or simply enjoying an afternoon of accurate, satisfying rimfire shooting.
