Description
The Cimarron 1875 Outlaw 44-40 Revolver is Cimarron’s faithful reproduction of the 1875 Remington single action army revolver, chambered in 44-40 (44 WCF). Cimarron model CA167 has a 5.5 inch blued barrel, a color case hardened frame, walnut grips and fixed sights, and it holds six rounds.

Cimarron 1875 Outlaw 44-40 Revolver Overview
Designed to compete with Colt’s 1873 single action, the 1875 Remington has a similar but distinctive look of its own, with the signature web under the barrel. Around 25,000 were made between 1875 and 1889, and they were held in high esteem by Westerners including the outlaw Frank James and Texas Ranger Bill McDonald. S. Department of the Interior even purchased several hundred in 1883 as an issue sidearm for Indian police on frontier reservations. 5 inch blued barrel, a beautiful color case hardened frame and smooth walnut grips.
The traditional single action lockwork gives a crisp trigger pull once the hammer is cocked, and the six round cylinder loads through a side gate. Fixed sights keep the profile clean and true to the original, and the revolver weighs about 40 ounces.
The 44-40 Cartridge
The 44-40, also called the 44 WCF, was introduced by Winchester in 1873 and quickly became one of the most popular cartridges on the frontier because it could be fired in both rifles and revolvers. It remains a favorite of cowboy action shooters and history buffs today.

Cowboy Action Shooting
The 1875 Outlaw is a great choice for cowboy action shooting. Pair it with a lever action rifle in 44-40 and you can run one cartridge for both guns, just as frontier riders did more than a century ago.
Safe Handling
Like the originals, this is a traditional single action revolver. Load five rounds and rest the hammer on an empty chamber for safe carry, and always follow Cimarron’s loading instructions.

Practice and Training
Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.
Choosing Ammunition
Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.
Safe Storage
Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.
Recommended Accessories
A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
