Weatherby Live Wild Carbon 65 RPM 24 Overview

The Mark V action was designed by Roy Weatherby in the 1950s to handle his high velocity magnum cartridges. It has a short 54 degree bolt lift for fast cycling and plenty of scope clearance, and magnum versions use a nine lug bolt while standard cartridges use a slimmer six lug bolt. Weatherby backs Mark V rifles with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee when used with Weatherby or premium factory ammunition. The Mark V Live Wild Carbon uses carbon fiber to cut weight without giving up accuracy.

Action and Trigger

The Mark V bolt has a 54 degree lift, so cycling is quick even with a large scope mounted low. Capacity is 4+1 rounds.

Barrel

The 24 inch barrel has a #4 CARBON contour and a 1:8 twist. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 for a brake or suppressor. Weatherby lists the barrel at 24 22 barrel + 2 muzzle brake. Overall length is 44 inches.

Stock and Fit

Weatherby lists a 13.25 inch length of pull, .49 inch drop at comb and .35 inch drop at heel. The rifle weighs about 5.7 lbs without a scope.

The 6.5 Weatherby RPM

The 6.5 Weatherby RPM is a Weatherby cartridge built for high velocity and flat trajectories. Weatherby chambers use freebore, and ammo costs more and is harder to find than common rounds, so stock up before hunting season.

Big Game Hunting

This rifle suits big game hunting, from deer and pronghorn to elk depending on caliber. Confirm your zero before the season and know your effective range.

Buying Tips

Budget for quality optics, rings and ammo. Weatherby ammo costs more than common rounds, so factor that into practice. Weatherby photos may show another caliber or a right hand model.

Care and Value

Wipe the metal down after wet hunts, clean the bore regularly and store the rifle in a dry place. Weatherby rifles hold their value well.

State Laws

Bolt action rifles are legal to own in every state, though hunting caliber rules vary. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
