Description
Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 shotshells load Federal Premium Prairie Storm FS Lead into a 3 inch 12 gauge hull. Each shell carries 1-5/8 ounces of number 6 lead shot at a published muzzle velocity of about 1350 feet per second. It is a premium upland load built for pheasants and other tough birds. Each box holds 25 shells.
Built to Bring Down Roosters
Prairie Storm FS Lead combines two Federal technologies. The rear-opening FLITECONTROL FLEX wad holds the shot together after it leaves the muzzle, then releases it for full, consistent patterns through any upland choke.
The payload mixes 70 percent standard copper-plated lead with 30 percent FLITESTOPPER lead. FLITESTOPPER pellets have a cutting ring designed to create bigger wound channels, while the copper-plated lead helps fill out an even, edge-to-edge pattern.
Federal says the load retains its velocity and energy well downrange, which helps reduce lost birds on long, going-away shots at wild late-season roosters.

Upland Tips
Use Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 only in shotguns chambered for 3 inch or longer 12 gauge shells.
Pattern your shotgun with this load before the season so you know how it performs through your choke.
Keep shots within about 40 yards for clean kills on flushing birds.
Check your hunting regulations, since some public lands and refuges require non-toxic shot.
Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 ammo is a dense-patterning choice for pheasant hunters who want a premium lead load.
Number 6 lead puts more pellets in the pattern than 4s or 5s. In a heavy 1-5/8 ounce payload, that adds up to a very dense pattern for early-season birds and roosters that flush at moderate range.
Copper plating helps lead pellets resist deformation as they travel up the barrel and through the choke. Round pellets fly straighter and hold their energy better, which is a big part of why Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 shells produce such even patterns.
When you pattern your gun, shoot at a large sheet of paper at 30 and 40 yards and look for gaps. A pattern with no holes big enough for a rooster to slip through is what you want, and it is worth trying a couple of chokes to find the best match.
Late-season pheasants are often wild and flush far out. A load with strong retained energy, like Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6, gives you a better chance at those longer going-away shots. Early in the season, when birds hold tighter for the dog, a more open choke can help.
Buying several boxes of Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 from the same lot keeps your patterns consistent through the season. Store shells in a cool, dry place in their original box.
Hunting behind a good dog is one of the best parts of upland season. Keep a few extra boxes of Federal Prairie Storm Lead 12ga 3in 6 shells in the truck so a long day of flushes never ends early, and always unload when crossing fences or handing birds to a partner.
After a wet day in the field, wipe down your shotgun and dry your shells before putting them away.
