Description

The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC is the 2.5-15×42 configuration of Trijicon’s Credo HX hunting line. Where the 56mm models in the family chase light, this one chases reach and carry weight. A 42mm objective keeps the scope under twenty three ounces and lets it sit low over the bore, and the fifteen power top end gives you the magnification to identify and place a shot well past four hundred yards.

Why The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC Mounts Lower And Carries Better

Objective diameter drives ring height, and ring height drives cheek weld. A 42mm bell clears most barrels on low or medium rings, which puts your face on the stock the way the rifle was designed to be shouldered. That matters more for offhand and improvised field positions than any glass specification on the box.

Weight is twenty two and nine tenths ounces and overall length is thirteen and nine tenths inches. The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC is not a lightweight mountain scope, but it is a full magnification range optic that does not turn a seven pound rifle into a nine pound one. On a long walk in, that difference is real.

One Hundred Minutes Of Elevation Changes What You Can Do

Adjustment range on this model is one hundred minutes of elevation and eighty minutes of windage, at a quarter minute per click. That is double the elevation travel of the 56mm Credo HX, and it is the specification that turns the Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC from a hold over scope into one you can genuinely dial with when the shot justifies it.

In practice that means a two hundred yard zero still leaves you the better part of eighty minutes above it. With a twenty minute canted base you can reach well beyond what most hunting cartridges will ethically deliver. The turrets are capped, so the scope will not lose a zero riding in a scabbard between stands.

PowerDot Illumination And The BDC Hunter Holds Reticle

The reticle sits in the second focal plane, so the aiming point and the holdover marks stay the same visual size across the entire magnification range. For hunting that is the right call. You learn one sight picture and it never changes on you, whether the animal is at forty yards in timber or four hundred across a cut.

BDC Hunter Holds put marked holdover points below the center dot, calibrated for common hunting cartridges. Trijicon publishes the reticle dimensions so you can verify the holds against your own load. Confirm them on paper or steel before the season rather than trusting a chart in the field.

Illumination on the Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC runs off a single CR2032 cell driving an LED, with red and green settings and roughly sixty eight hours of runtime. Green tends to disappear into foliage less than red does at first light, and having both on one scope means you are not stuck with the wrong color for the background you are actually looking at.

Eye Relief And Mounting The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC

Eye relief runs from two and four tenths inches at the top of the magnification range to nearly four inches at the bottom. That is normal for a scope in this class, but it means you should set the scope in the rings at full magnification, not at 2.5x, or you will end up too far forward when it matters.

Rings are sold separately. On a standard bolt action a low or medium 30mm ring set will clear the 42mm bell on most barrel contours. Check your own rifle rather than assuming, and use a set with enough clamping surface that the Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC is not relying on two narrow bands to hold a zero under recoil.

Why Hunters Choose The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC

  • One hundred minutes of elevation travel, double the 56mm Credo HX
  • 42mm objective mounts low for a proper cheek weld
  • Second focal plane reticle that never changes size
  • BDC Hunter Holds for fast holdover shots
  • Red and green LED illumination on a single CR2032 cell
  • Nitrogen filled and submersible to ten feet
  • Backed by the Trijicon limited lifetime warranty

Who The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC Is Built For

This is the Credo HX for open country. Western deer, antelope, and coyote hunters who expect to see game across a draw rather than at the edge of a food plot get the magnification and the elevation travel they need in a package that still carries well. It also makes a capable predator rifle scope.

It suits the shooter who wants one scope that hunts in the fall and shoots paper or steel the rest of the year. Fifteen power is enough to see your hits at four hundred yards, and the Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC has the dialing range to make the trip worth taking. Eastern timber hunters are better served by the 56mm model.

How The Trijicon Credo HX 15×42 BDC Compares Inside The Credo HX Family

The Credo HX line spans several magnification ranges on the same housing and sealing standard. The 2.5-10×56 trades reach for a bigger objective and better low light performance. The 2.5-15×56 keeps this magnification range on a larger bell at the cost of ring height and weight. The 4-16×50 gives up the low end for more top magnification.

If you are weighing those options, browse the rest of our optics selection and read the manufacturer specification page for the published reticle dimensions before you commit to a reticle you cannot change later.
