Bond Arms Stubby 22 LR Overview

Bond Arms builds its derringers in Granbury, Texas, from stainless steel. They are simple, strong and compact, and they are popular as backup guns, trail guns and collector pieces. The Stubby has the shortest barrel Bond Arms has ever made, built on a modified Stinger frame to be the easiest Bond Arms pistol to conceal.

Built to Disappear

At about 4.25 inches long, 3.75 inches tall and .88 inch thin, the Stubby disappears in a pocket. One owner called it the smallest, lightest, easiest to conceal last resort gun in a major caliber he had found. It is not a target pistol, and Bond Arms built it as a close range, last resort firearm.

Two Barrels

The Stubby has two stacked 2.2 inch barrels and fires one round from each. Its barrels are made for the Stubby frame, and Bond Arms notes they are not compatible with hand cannon, Cyclops or original Stinger barrels.

Safety and Action

Bond Arms pistols are single action, so you cock the hammer for each shot. A cross-bolt safety and a rebounding hammer add security. Bond Arms warns owners never to carry its handguns cocked and locked, so carry with the hammer down and follow the owner manual.

Grip and Frame

Slim polymer panel grips keep the profile as flat as possible. There is no trigger guard, so carry it only in a holster that fully covers the trigger, and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.

Choosing Ammunition

This pistol fires .22 LR, the cheapest and mildest cartridge to practice with. Use high velocity round nose or hollow point loads for the most reliable ignition.

Carry

A derringer carries well in a pocket or belt holster made for Bond Arms frames. Practice drawing, cocking and firing with an unloaded gun until it becomes second nature.

Cleaning and Care

Stainless steel resists rust, but clean both bores after each range trip, especially after shooting lead bullets or shot shells. Wipe the frame with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.

State Laws

Some states and cities restrict handgun purchases or limit which models can be sold. Check your state and local laws before you order. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
