Description
The Watchtower Demolitia Elite 9mm 5 Inch is a double-stack 1911 from Texas-based Watchtower with a ported, gold PVD 5 inch barrel, an optic-cut stainless slide in graphite PVD and an Elite package that adds extra magazines and cases. It is a flashy, competition-flavored pistol aimed at shooters who want a flat-shooting high-capacity 9mm.
Watchtower Demolitia Elite 9mm 5 Inch Overview
Watchtower announced the Demolitia as its first full-size ported model. Published specs list a steel frame and stainless slide in Graphite PVD, a 5 inch barrel with 1-in-16 twist, a tactical magwell, an ambidextrous safety, a user-adjustable trigger, a Dawson Precision tool-less recoil system and a green fiber optic front sight with an optic plate for RMR, SRO and Holosun footprints. Launch coverage lists a weight of 38.4 ounces without a magazine and an 8.7 inch length. Retailers list two 17-round and two 20-round magazines.
What Porting Does
The ported barrel and slide vent gas upward to reduce muzzle rise, so the dot or front sight returns faster. The cost is extra blast and flash, more carbon on the slide and optic, and possible gas toward your face when shooting from retention or close to the body. Porting makes the most sense on a range or competition gun.
Elite Package
Distributor listings describe the Elite package as four magazines, a hard case, a soft case, a hat and a certificate. The magazines are the most useful part: two 17-round flush mags and two 20-round extended mags let you shoot a full stage or a long range session without reloading magazines constantly.
Optic Ready
The slide is cut for a red dot and ships with a plate for RMR, SRO and Holosun footprints. With porting, choose a dot with a sturdy, easily cleaned window. The green fiber optic front is useful as a backup and is easy to see in daylight.
Trigger and Recoil System
Watchtower lists a user-adjustable trigger with about 2.5 to 3.5 pounds of pull, and a Dawson Precision tool-less recoil system shipped with a 12.5 pound spring. Light triggers reward good fundamentals but demand strict muzzle and trigger discipline, especially when holstering.
Brand and Support
Watchtower is a newer maker, and the company now operates as Watchtower Defense. The Demolitia does not appear on its current website, so parts, magazines and holsters may be harder to find than for long-established 2011 brands, and resale value is less predictable. Buy spare magazines while they are available.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no handgun roster and no magazine limit, but handgun transfers run through the PICS check. States such as California, New Jersey, Colorado and Washington limit magazines to 10 or 15 rounds, and the 17 and 20-round magazines in this package would be illegal there. Some states also maintain handgun rosters. Check your state and local rules and confirm with your receiving FFL before ordering.
